Anthropologie drop waist dress

This vector illustration is pretty old, I believe from 2011?

It is a more accurate depiction of the floral dress I wore as a shirt yesterday.  My vector "skill" is still pretty on par with this too so...relevance?

October 28, 2013

I guess I'm going to have to come straight home after work and treat this blog like some sort of homework project if I ever expect to draw any outfits.

You know those days when you just throw crap on? Maybe you did plan your outfit the night before, but it was close to midnight and you were very tired and thought, "It's Monday, this will do."

Well, that was me last night/today.

The colors here are off. I failed to capture my new knit cardigan but it was fun to paint this little lady.  The cardigan is sort of boxy, I did wear a floral tunic (actually, it's a drop waist dress!) and a pleated pink skirt.

As hipster as floral crowns are, I just think they're so feminine and fun. I'm not brave enough to wear them in real life so drawn me (header) and the girls here can wear them!

Wednesday October 9, 2013

I've been really interested in vintage the past few months and finally ordered my first dress from Dronning Vintage on Etsy. Today I ordered 2 more dresses so whenever they arrive I'll be sure to wear and draw them!

I picked up some fancy pants art supplies today so I could do this right (and know that one of the illustrators I like uses the same). The watercolor paper I bought is considerably smaller than the drawing pad I used for the entry below. So, I had to redraw the darn thing :\ Good practice I suppose...

I also tried putting some beads on, even though they aren't black like the actual dress. Ya know, jazz it up. I was too impatient to post to let the glue dry or remove the paper from the block!

So, here's the first illustrated bit of my wardrobe and first [serious] attempt at fashion illustration. Her legs aren't in the right place and her arms probably aren't long enough but hey, I tried.

Numero Uno...

Is this my subtle way of joining the fashion community? Well, duh! But more importantly, it's to become a better illustrator.

Upcoming outfits for when I stop being lazy....

This was Tuesday and Wednesday's outfit. I haven't decided on how to execute the colors and patterns of the clothing. That feeling of not wanting to ruin bare canvas? Well, I don't want to ruin the drawings. Esp. with paint...can't erase! And it took me a preeeetty long time to draw these 2 gals.

A definite area to work on...drawing faster!
